This year, I will once again be joining the Foreign Employment & Education EXPO 2026 with an English career counseling booth. Last year was my first time participating, and thanks to the support of so many people, it became a truly valuable learning experience for me. Thank you again to everyone who supported us. This year as well, I feel very encouraged to be running the counseling booth together with fellow career consultants who share the same passion and vision. This year, in addition to myself, four other career consultants will be supporting and joining the booth. One thing I strongly realized at last year’s event was that even within the category of “international students,” everyone’s background and situation are so different. For students who are still not confident in Japanese, even taking the very first step to ask for help can be difficult. In fact, many of the students who came to us were at JLPT N3 level or below, including some at N4 and N5. I also learned that some students—because of their age, nationality, or other circumstances—may find it harder to speak up or access existing support systems. That is why I believe it is meaningful to create a place where they can feel comfortable seeking advice in English. Our role is to help them organize their concerns and situation, and to think together about a realistic and manageable next step. When needed, we also hope to connect them with the people, places, and opportunities that may support them further, while staying connected along the way. I hope this booth can continue to serve as an “entry point” for support—a place where students can start their journey without feeling alone. Since it will be held during weekday daytime, I know it may be difficult for some of you to come, but if you have time, please feel free to stop by. I’d be very happy to see you there!
